Saxons

Second unit of Saxon foot that would of existed in England from 850's to its fall to the Normans. No real plan for these...that is....I plan to paint up roughly 32 at a time in between other projects with the intention of having some 10 units? 320 figures sounds like a good number to have but as I work through these I'm certain I will become more specific in my intentions. All the miniatures are made up from Foundry, Crusader and some Footsore. They do not yet include the latest round of releases that Footsore has recently done with late Saxons but I do plan on adding some. I did choose to add some mail figures representing some Thegns joining the Fryd to help stiffen them up. When I paint the Huscarls I will go with all mailed clad figures and use mostly the Crusader line.

Saxon archers

These miniatures are a mix of both crusader and Foundry. The foundry line is definitely a tad larger....I kept them each on separate bases but they will round out one unit. Saxons of course did not make much use of bowmen so this might be my only unit....perhaps I will add one more? The Saxons will comprise a large amount of figures...hmmmm? Anyway...some pics for those interested.

Saxon Late Infantry

An army that needs no introduction a late Saxon force. This is something I have been
painting up in a bit and pieces type project. The majority of figures is Foundry but also
include a few crusader and some footsore miniatures. I plan on using mostly those 3
manufacturers for this project. The figures are based on a standard 60mm wide base
but went with 30mm depth which was really the only way to get 4 to fit on a base.

Saxons...FootSore and Crusader Miniatures

Semi large project of a commission project of mainly Saxons with some Sub Roman
figures mixed in. I will be posting a group of the cavalry later.....there are also a group
of archers, slingers, and peasant infantry....but I have chosen to post the heavier Saxon
infantry along with the character type figures including one of Merlin. All the character
figures are from Footsore and very nice miniatures....they do stand a head taller than the
Crusader line and have included comparison pics. However; the crusader line of dark
age figures are also a quite pleasant bunch. Side note all shields hand painted which
I prefer to do on dark age figures.

these miniatures are all Footsore including one of Merlin
