This will be a 3-4 part posting of numerous pictures of my Viking army. Total figures are over 300 so have split it into numerous components. The Vikings made little use of skirmish type infantry with that component representing a very small part of their total force. I opted for only 4 stands each of 4 figures on a 60mm base. As for bows many rules and their army lists allow for a fair percent to be armed as such. The standard Viking panoply certainly included bows and the practice of using them but they never utilized them in any type of mass archery formation on the battlefield. Undoubtedly, before the clash of the of melee some would take individual pot shots before dropping their bows and drawing their swords/axes for the clash of battle. I opted to use a few bases (as shown here) of having some of the figures on a base (3 out of the 7 figures) bow armed to allow for a limited type of effect of bow fire.
